Quite a number of our San Francisco city hall wedding photography<\/strong><\/a> clients have acted surprised when we tell them that we also photograph large full scale weddings.\u00a0 In fact, we were recently told that we missed out on a potential wedding because one of our city hall wedding clients had no idea that we had experience with large formal marriages.\u00a0 \u00a0They had decided to do a large more formal wedding now that things had settled down after Covid-19 issues and their families were all available and could have used us. We have been photographing large scale San Francisco and Bay Area weddings for over 20 years with 2,000 weddings photographed including City Hall.\u00a0 Our experience with SF City Hall photography has certainly helped us with our knowledge of some of the best places to take our bride and grooms throughout San Francisco. If anything, it has enhanced our ability to capture great images and weekend weddings in the city at any of the most famous local wedding venues.\u00a0 We have photographed San Francisco marriages at most of the major ones.<\/p>\n

Many San Francisco Wedding Locations to Choose From<\/h2>\n

As mentioned above, our San Francisco wedding experience has taken us all over the city and to many of the churches and venues available to engaged couples.\u00a0 Some of our favorite places for ceremonies include Saint Ignatius Church<\/a>\u00a0\u00a0<\/strong>and the beautiful North Beach Church, Saints Peters and Paul<\/a><\/strong>.\u00a0 \u00a0We have photographed multiple weddings at these amazing and historic San Francisco Catholic churches.\u00a0 \u00a0Other Favorite venues of ours include The Bently Reserve<\/a><\/strong> and the Italian Athletic Club<\/a>\u00a0<\/strong>a North Beach favorite!\u00a0 The main reason for this blog post is just to let potential clients know that we do more than just SF city hall weddings.\u00a0 We are available for any of your San Francisco bay area wedding photography needs and happy to provide guidance as well.\u00a0<\/p>\n

The other purpose is to let people know in general that San Francisco is loaded with great places to have a full scale weekend wedding.\u00a0 The many old time San Francisco churches, some of which were mentioned above all make for amazing ceremony spots if you want a religious ceremony.\u00a0 If you prefer something less formal, there are great locations throughout the city including the Julia Morgan Ballroom<\/a><\/strong>, The Golden Gate Club and one of our favorites, The Log Cabin<\/a><\/strong> located in the Presidio.\u00a0

We could go on and on about all of these wedding destinations and perhaps in a future blog we will go into more detail about some of our favorites San Francisco Wedding venues.\u00a0 Of course, there are so many throughout the Bay Area. The point is, there are many places and the prices are more affordable than you might think if you shop carefully. Ever since the Pandemic, wedding venues have been offering better pricing to entice engaged couples to book.\u00a0 Things have changed since Covid-19 entered out lives and it takes a while for things to settle out.\u00a0 Even now, in 2026, restaurants are still closing for business and are blaming the backlash from the Pandemic as the reason.\u00a0 Amazing that 5 years later, we are still seeing backlash from the Covid-19 slowdown.<\/p>\n

San Francisco Wedding Photography Locations<\/h2>\n

Once any of our San Francisco bay area weddings are completed there are so many great places to take our couples for pictures.\u00a0 \u00a0We have been taking our San Francisco city hall clients to many of these locations over the past 15 years and so we know them well.\u00a0 Of course, they all work just as well for full weekend weddings.\u00a0 As our regular readers know, we love to take our clients to The Legion of Honor, The Palace of Fine Arts, Russian Hill, Baker Beach and so many other fantastic San Francisco destinations!\u00a0 We also have many East Bay locations to take amazing photographs if you are getting married in that region. A couple having their marriage in San Francisco could even choose City Hall as just a location for pictures! In addition to our experience with large scale weddings, we also do portrait photography of all types.\u00a0 This includes family portraits and Quinceanera photography<\/a>.<\/strong><\/p>\n

The weather can also affect where we take our couples for their pictures, but fortunately there are so many choices, we always find a great place.\u00a0 Obviously when it comes to really foggy conditions, we recommend staying away from the Golden Gate Bridge because it will not be possible to obtain great wedding pictures.\u00a0 We often try to take our couples to a place in the Presidio called Woodline.\u00a0 This is a nice wedding photography location when the weather is less than ideal because it is well protected.\u00a0 It is down in a valley and also surrounded by large trees which block the wind and even the fog a little.\u00a0 It has become a favorite of ours to take our couples after SF City Hall weddings as well.\u00a0 To see some wedding photos from Woodline<\/a><\/strong> in the Presidio click the link. San Francisco City Hall as a Large Scale Wedding Venue<\/h2>\n

We should also not fail to mention San Francisco city hall as a place that\u00a0 can serve as a large scale wedding venue and a place to take pictures for your wedding photographer. You can book a “reserved ceremony” and have all of the comforts and convenience of having your wedding at one of SF’s finest venues. The cost of a reserved wedding is $1,200 and can be arranged through the City Hall Events Department (link below). Saturday weddings at SF City Hall are also quite common and can be reserved for a price of $5,000.\u00a0 You can bring a very large number of guests and you have the venue for 2 hours for that price. Other options are also available for those that also want to have the reception party there as well. You can contact the SF City Hall Events Department<\/a><\/strong> for more information.<\/p>\n\n
