SF City Hall Wedding Photography with Colette and Stephen<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

We really enjoyed our wedding picture taking day with Colette and Stephen at San Francisco city hall. \u00a0Colette wore a spectacular red wedding dress which had heads turning throughout city hall. \u00a0The happy couple got married in front of family and friends in the beautiful Rotunda on a typically busy Thursday afternoon at San Francisco City Hall. \u00a0 Fortunately, they choose a very late 3:30 ceremony time and so by the time their wedding was over and the family pictures were complete, things were starting to slow down around the building.\u00a0 3:30 is the last ceremony of the day so people tend to clear out slowly shortly after that. For that reason, I highly recommend booking that time for your wedding if you are concerned about crowds for your civil ceremony and the photo shoot after. You can assure you obtain a preferred slot by logging on to the city hall wedding site at midnight 90 days before your desired ceremony date.

We highly recommend late ceremonies to take advantage of the fact that people start to vacate the building as it gets closer to 5:00 pm. \u00a0This is especially important on busy days at SF city hall like Thursdays and Fridays.\u00a0 Just keep in mind the slight chance of events occurring late in the day. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

UPDATE:\u00a0 Events are back at San Francisco city hall, but there are much fewer than before.\u00a0 There is still that slight chance that your late afternoon ceremony could be disrupted by an event, which mostly occur on Fridays.\u00a0In most cases the disruptions do not start until 4:00 pm, but it could be sooner depending upon the size of the planned city hall event. It is hard to find out what events are coming up, but it is sometimes possible if you do some targeted searches.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Easy City Hall Wedding Photography with Limited Crowds<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

With a fair amount of free rein as we completed our building tour, we were able to capture some amazing photos with not too many people\/strangers around. \u00a0The couple had opted for our very popular Golden Gate package<\/strong><\/a> which provided them with 2.5 hours of coverage and 1 outside San Francisco location after city hall. \u00a0They chose one of our favorite spots for their second photo location, Woodline in the Presidio. Woodline is a deep forest area in the Presidio that has a fairly wide cut-through opening where many trees were taken down. \u00a0The name Woodline comes from the fact that many of these cut down trees were lined up in a zigzag line pattern all the way down the cut-through. It is basically a line of wood tree trunks that go through the area. It helps define this area and keep it clear. We thought that Colette’s dress would work perfectly with the background because of the beautiful red color and as you can see it did! \u00a0I have always liked the way red looks with brown and greens in the background.

We provided the happy couple with convenient transportation to the Presidio location and then took them to their celebration dinner party, which was not too far away.\u00a0 However, in most cases, we will take you to all the destinations for the photography tour and then allow you to safely Uber\/Lyft back to where you are staying or live. We will always stay with you until you are picked up by your mobile rideshare. NOTE:\u00a0 Since this post, we have been encountering more and more red wedding dresses at San Francisco city hall.\u00a0 Could this be a trend?\u00a0 The rich colors certainly work well in this mostly gray building so this might be why it has become more and more popular.\u00a0 \u00a0 We frequently discuss the use of flowers to add color to city hall, why not the whole dress?\u00a0 It seems that Red is the most popular color followed closely by floral prints.\u00a0 Of course no color will ever be more popular than the traditional white wedding dress.\u00a0 The red color made for a nice contrast with the green colors at Woodline as well. Red also works well in most outdoor settings as long as it is not too bright. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Woodline is also a Popular Tourist Destination<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Woodline can also be a great place to have a picnic or do some sightseeing.\u00a0 It is located in the historical part of the Presidio, close to what is known as “Lovers Lane”.\u00a0 This Lane was named because it it became the path that World War II and the Korean War Military personnel took their dates for a walk and still stay on the base.\u00a0 The Presidio is no longer an active Army base, but was for many years even through the Vietnam War.\u00a0 The barracks mostly remain as do the officer’s quarters.\u00a0 Many of the nicer buildings have been converted to bars and event destinations.\u00a0 For more information about The Presidio and Lover’s lane,<\/a><\/strong> click the link. Lovers Lane is also a nice picture spot after a San Francisco city hall wedding. We like to take walking shots of the couple hand and hand as they walk on the path. So many great places in San Francisco to take our newlyweds and the Presidio is just one of them.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
