I thought I would repost this just as a reminder of what we have all gone through. This was the very beginning of the long closure of city hall due to the Virus. The reason I bring this up is I still occasionally receive messages of concern about getting married in such a public place and it is safe.
Way back in 2020 we had multiple cancellations from brides and grooms who were mostly concerned about their guest’s health and the chance of building closures. At that point, most of our wedding cancellations had been for larger gatherings and not the small Civil Ceremonies. However, we were aware that these could be next. Eventually they closed down the entire building and it ended up not opening for well over a year later.
You Can Still get Married if You are Worried!
SF City Hall Wedding Photography By Michael is committed to helping you in every way possible. If you are concerned about Covid 19, we can still have your wedding at an alternative location. We will arrange for an officiant (there will be a charge for this) for you and we can choose another outdoor beautiful SF location for you and your guests. We are also working on getting certified ourselves to perform and officiate weddings. So if that occurs, the officiant cost will be nominal. We could, for example, arrange to have your wedding ceremony in a small corner of the Palace of Fine Arts. We also know of a beautiful hillside location that over looks the entire city. We have photographed a ceremony there before and it was incredible. So even though I feel like it is now perfectly safe to get married at San Francisco city hall, we DO offer great alternatives.

You should also know that if you do NOT want to have an alternative wedding location because you concerend about illness in a public building, we are still willing to photograph your rescheduled wedding. In fact, your deposits will all be applied 100% to any future scheduled weddings. The only requirement is that when you reschedule your wedding, you need to make sure we are available on the new date. As long as you do that, we will photograph your wedding and apply your prepayments. We understand that some of you may still be concerned about Covid in public places and we want to do everything possible to make things work for you and your significant other. I understand that some of you reading this blog are wondering what the big deal is about Covid now that is so far in the past. Just please understand that we still do receive messages from people that want to know about these issues and express their concern. Bottom line is that we will work with each of our potential clients to make sure they are comfortable with their wedding location choice. Whether or not it ends up being at San Francisco city hall.
