San Francisco's Pier 7 Wedding Photography

Pier 7 happens to be another one of our frequently visited San Francisco locations to take our City Hall Wedding couples. We try to include Pier 7 whenever we have a wedding that ends a little later in the afternoon. The tourists on Pier 7 tend to diminish as it get close to rush hour during the week. The photo above was taken at about 6pm in the summer. As you can see the Pier is basically empty, providing us with a perfect backdrop to make this wonderful image. The sun being lower in the sky also helped create some dramatic light to help outline the subjects and set them apart from the background. It really can be difficult to capture uncrowded shots in the early afternoon.

San Francisco Tourists Are Challenging

Feel free to request Pier 7 in San Francisco as one of your City Hall tour stops. Just realize that on some occasions touring traffic may be unavoidable and could partially disrupt some of your wedding photography. Challenging yes, but not insurmountable. For the most part, we can find ways around this and still create exceptional images for your wedding album. In many cases, it may be just the simple solution to wait a bit for the tourists to clear out of the way. The one issue with getting to Pier 7 is that afternoon traffic getting there on a Friday may be a little tough. The best way to handle this is to allow sufficient time to arrive. We always suggest to our San Francisco city hall couples to allow plenty of time for any plans including eating out after your wedding. Traffic can be unpredictable, especially on Fridays. This particular area is well worth it because there are so many great wedding photography spots. This includes The Bay Bridge and also Cupid's Arrow.
